Baidu has just given an official announcement that they will change their user-agent on May 10, 2011.
If you are a SEO and have ever paid attention to your server logs, you should know that the current user-agent for Baidu is:
And the new one that will take effect in May is:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Baiduspider/2.0; +http://www.baidu.com/search/spider.html)
What should you do?
- If you have already blocked Baiduspider with the robots.txt file, then you need to do nothing;
- If you have configured your server to deny Baiduspider’s access to your website, you need to change your configurations to block the new Baiduspider, or just switch to robots.txt;
